An electric bicycle is a bicycle with an additional electric motor. Electric bicycles and e-bikes have been the sales trend of recent years. In 2022 alone, over 50,000 units were sold. Thanks to the supporting motor, even non-athletes can cover longer distances and/or differences in altitude more easily.
If you don't want to put yourself through unnecessary uphill cycling, we recommend the flat bike tour through the districts of March and Höfe, i.e. around the Obersee of Zurich. It is a bike ride with picture-perfect views and opportunities to stop along the way for a swim. In contrast to the lower Lake Zurich, the cycle path on the Obersee runs directly along the lake shore. As far as Schmerikon, you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the lake and the alps. After that, the scenery changes from "lake with mountains" to "canals and avenues", which will delight all Holland lovers. The flat area between Lake Walen and Lake Zurich is known as the Linth plain and offers a network of side canals on which you can cycle in a relaxed manner without any cars. There are various shortcuts and extensions. Duration minimum is 2 hours.
The starting point is in Ennenda in the canton of Glarus. You ride the e-bikes to Glarus and then towards Schwammhöhe - this is very easy with the motor supporting you. At the Schwammhöhe restaurant at 1100 m above sea level you can enjoy a drink break and the wonderful view of the Klöntalersee.
Rested, you leisurely ride down to the Klöntalersee and look for a nice place to have a barbecue and swim. While you swim, your guide will prepare the barbecue, because all that biking surely made you hungry. A combination with raft building is also very popular. If you would rather eat in a restaurant, we'd be happy to organize this for you. After eating, you cycle all the way around the lake. You then take a leisurely direct route back to the starting point. Experience untouched alpine landscapes and enjoy time away from the hustle and bustle for 5-6 hours (pure driving time approx. 3 hours).
